i dig my sigg

love the motto on the back! it's the same concept as our fitness journals. make small manageable changes one day at a time. One of the healthiest habits I have is drinking water. I always have a bottle w/me. I drink way more than the recommended 64oz a day. I think it goes back to when I was little and my mother owned a clothing store in Stillwater. She was always sending me down the street to Brine's deli to get her lime flavored Mendota Springs bottled water. This was back in the day, before plastic bottles were everywhere and glass was the trend. Now in my recent attempt to be more environmentally conscientious I'm trying to quit plastic bottles altogether. I've converted to aluminum. My bottle of choice: Sigg. These water bottles are everywhere in LA. I got mine at Whole Foods, but when I looked at the Sigg website I wish I would've ordered direct. This Eco Logical bottle is so cute! Their website has a lot of fun designs. And yes, I realize they are kinda spendy - $25 for a water bottle!!! But they are really durable, lightweight, and they don't have any funky odors. So your water tastes like water flavored water. Not plastic or tin. Anyway, thanks mom, for getting me started on drinking lots of water, and for all the change I kept from every bottle you drank. I made a killing off of you. Ha!

nike hand weights

I'm still on the hunt for the most amazingly-well-designed-beautiful-dumbbells-on-earth. These are from Nike. Not super amazing, but pretty cool. However, they're too light. (they only come in 3,5, & 8lb.) I need to find 10lb that have a super cool design. Somebody must have something like this... somewhere... help me please :-)

dumbbells in streaming colors

Empower 32 lb. dumbbell set $60I like these because the colors match our Streaming Colors Fitness Journal. But I'm still searching for cool 10lb. dumbbells. It seems as if they stop making "designer" (or, as I'm finding out "designed for women") weight sets after 8lbs. Do women not lift 10lb. weights? If you have any cool options please post them in the comments. Would love to find something soon!

beautiful dumbbells

Henriette Melchiorsen magnetic dumbbells 2.2lbs/each $200 -whoaThe time has come to step it up a notch. To increase my arm weights from 8lbs. to 10lbs. That's right, I'm going for the gold. Only I just can't bring myself to do it. Why?...after a lot of thought I came up with two possible explanations. A) I am lazy. and/or B) my 10lb. weights are ugly. Obviously it's B. At least that's what I'm telling myself. But honestly, my 10lb. weights are really ugly. They were inherited from a former boyfriend (too light for him!) and they are big, bulky, dark grey weights. Cold as steel. Nowhere near as fun as my purple neoprene 8lb. weights or my turquoise 5lb-ers. So in my quest for gold it turns out I am going to have to replace my old 10lb weights with something new and flashy... something I really really want to lift, repeatedly. How's that for motivation?!?!?! Call me crazy, but I don't think you should have to sacrifice good design for functionality. Ever.
